FEEL BETTER

A long time ago, you began to (unconsciously) associate success--or safety--with deforming yourself: stiffening your neck or hunching your shoulders or puffing up your chest or holding your breath or locking your knees...

These patterns are now so automatic that you can't feel them.

But they are contributing to your STRESS, your PAIN, your general sense of discomfort with yourself.

If you don't INTERRUPT your bad habits, they will only get stronger.

Use Your Brain to FEEL BETTER in Your Skin

You can learn to stand up straight.  To balance better.  To calm down.  To be less stressed.  To breathe more easily. To garden without pain.  To sail through pregnancy.  To conquer performance anxiety.  To diminish your pain.  To be better at whatever you do.

If you interrupt your bad habits YOU will get stronger.

About

ALL ABOUT EVE

When I was little I wanted to be a Teacher and a Writer and a Performer and a Jedi and a Princess and a Detective and a Mother.

So I studied dance at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, majored in Theatre and Philosophy at Fordham College at Lincoln Center, earned an MA in Theatre Education and an MFA in Applied Theatre from Emerson College and became an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique at the Oregon Center for the Alexander Technique.  I also climbed mountains and read fantasy novels.

Now I get to be my own version of all the things, including Mom to triplets, who let me read all my favorite fantasy novels aloud to them. I teach at Lewis & Clark College and through my own business: In Balance Alexander Technique.  I lead workshops and give talks around the Portland, Oregon region.

I write and sing and create art.

I get to say Yoda-ish stuff like "You can't do something you don't know, if you keep on doing what you know." (actually F.M. Alexander said that).  And I daily embark on the same journey I invite my students on: unraveling the mystery of how we are getting in our own way so we can STOP doing it.

What People are Saying

"Now, as I'm about to turn 70, and because of chronic back and leg pain, I'm finding myself empowered to reexamine and moderate patterns of moving which I have carried with me for many years.  With Eve's thoughtful, caring, creative guidance, I'm experiencing growing awareness and relearning how to use my body and feel better and stronger."
